How to choose the right dental dog chew
|How to choose the right dental dog chew|
I am a Professional Pet Stylist and one of the things that I do is brush your dog's teeth. Your dogs dental hygiene plays an important role in overall health and longevity. Throughout my career, I have been asked what I felt was a good dental dog chew.
New brands emerge all of the time. I have a few identifiers that I look for when looking for a good dental chew. I look for high-quality ingredients because your dog is going to ingest this whole chew regularly. You dont want artificial colors, strange preservatives, or unusual ingredients going into your dog's belly.
When I am eyeing dog chews I look for the solidity of a chew. Does it have gusto? Is it going to stimulate your dog's chewing senses? If it's hard enough and fairly tasty your dog will chew hard on it. It is really good for dogs to chew hard on something because it scrapes their gums and teeth.
The harder the better. Sometimes when a dog chews hard enough on something their gums will bleed a little. Do not worry, they aren't injured. Their gums are getting heavily stimulated which is good. Most dental chews do not have this kind of impact so you will not likely notice this.
I chose the get naked Super Antioxidant chew because it is made with high-quality ingredients and is low on preservatives. This is a unique chew that has included a variety of fruits, vegetables, meats, and herbs.
This company realizes the dog is also ingesting the chew and its not just about their teeth. Not all companies have this complete mindset. Keep in mind the nutritional profile.
Dried Potatoes, Vegetable Glycerin, Gelatin, Water, Chicken, Natural Chicken Flavor, Organic Flaxseed, Pectin (Apple), Carrots, Cranberries, L-Ascorbyl-2 Polyphosphate (Source Of Vitamin C), Parsley, Chia Seed, Agar-Agar, Blueberry Pomace, Pomegranate, Mixed Tocopherols (A Preservative), Green Tea Extract (Decaf).
This is a unique chew. This is for sure not the only chew available but this is a guideline on what to potentially look out for. Thanks for reading today. May you and your dogs be healthy!
